Location & Noise Factor
While some home generators are quieter than others, the location of the unit should always be taken into consideration. For example you may want to locate the generator away from windows, especially bedrooms. We always advise our customers of this important comfort factor when we make recommendations concerning the location of a standby generator. Site Preparation
Large liquid-cooled generators above 20kW require a concrete slab due to the size and weight of the unit. For smaller air-cooled home generators, we frame the home generator site area with 4”x6” Grade 1 treated timbers and fill it with base rock and pea gravel. The rock base helps minimize vibration, noise, keeps the generator cleaner and above any surface water, and is more aesthetically pleasing than concrete. Of course if you prefer we can provide you with our Premium Pad with concrete and stone construction as illustrated below.

Fuel Supply
Your home generator needs an adequate supply of natural gas or propane gas as generator fuel. The closer to the fuel source the lower the cost to connect the generator. Generator shown is a 12kW Kohler generator in East Cobb, GA.

Electrical Interface
When installing a home standby generator system, it is almost always more cost effective to be close to your electric service entrance or electric panels. Generator shown is a 18kW Kohler generator system with 2 - 200 AMP automatic transfer switches. Power management was also used in this fine home in Jasper, GA.

GenSpring Power Installation Policy
All aspects of the installation of your new generator system will be done in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and applicable electrical and natural/propane gas codes. We will strive to complete the installation of your generator in as short of time as possible - somestimes in as little as one day. The time required to complete your specific installation is a function of the complexity of the job and the permitting/inspection process, if necessary.
If your municipal or county government policy calls for permitting and inspection, the required permitting steps and the inspection process will add time and costs to the installation. Please be advised that the scope of our proposal is limited to the proper installation of the generator system only. If upon inspection, the municipal or county inspector determines that, because of changes in the code since your home was built, other modifications to non-generator components of your electrical system are required, we will be pleased to do so at an additional cost on a time and material basis.
If you have questions or concerns regarding our installation or the permitting/inspection process, please let us know.
